Our Story
Sister Freda
MEDS for Africa has supported Sister Freda’s Cottage Hospital in Kitale Kenya since we visited first her in 2007. Many call Sister Freda Robinson the Mother Teresa of Kenya. Since meeting her, MEDS for Africa has helped expand her hospital from eight to thirty beds and start the Nzoia Nursing School. Each year when we visit we do rural medical clinics with her in villages where there is no access to medical care. After we leave, with our sponsorship, she continues to deliver mobile care to the small villages once a week. Sister Freda is charismatic yet humble. As one of my friends said, “She is a saintly woman who cares for her people.” MEDS is proud to be one of her supporters.
