Our Story
"Guys" education mission
MEDS occasionally supports a young male student. Currently we are supporting Alex Mwendwa who is in a training program for information technology in Nairobi. He is the type of person we want to empower. Alex came to us in 2019 having found MEDS for Africa on the internet. We met him first when we were in Nairobi and were immediately impressed with this young man. He came prepared. He had his transcripts, birth certificate, letters of recommendation, and proof that he was an orphan. He was working and continues to support himself. He was only asking for tuition help.
We paid for three semesters at $600 per semester and his $60 internship.
So often in Africa, we see people who simply have their hand out and want money and don't really know what they need. They just know they want something. Alex was very different. He came to us ready to be helped and so we did.
He is just about to finish and enter his internship.
